Soft Girl Era

If there’s any good to be taken from my Instagram explore page, it’s the influx of inspiration for Soft Girl Era. Romanticising the early morning? Of course. Soft-Girl-Self-Care in the form of an aesthetic coffee station setup? No doubt. Creating rituals that align with your affirmations? So up my street. I wanted to explore how this intentional appreciation of the little things has spilled into the rest of my life, because it all starts with how I start, and this blog truly keeps me accountable.

I just moved house (yay!) into a gorgeous appartment with my incredible boyfriend (double yay!) and this fresh start has me feeling reflective, reenergised to build those morning rituals back in, and let Soft Girl Era fully take hold. When creating and curating a new space, all the decisions that gradually build a home (or we like to call it: our nest) having this lens to view each decision feels indulgent in the best way. Because building the nest one piece at a time, together, feels like the fresh start I didn’t know I needed.

Soft Girl Era isn’t just about things though. It’s also about mindset, being kind to your mind, batting away negative self talk and being your own cheerleader instead of your inner critic taking centre stage. It’s viewing yourself through this softer, kinder lens, because the way we treat others starts with the way we treat ourselves. It’s not always automatic to have compassion for myself, but I’m trying more to notice when negative self-talk comes up, and instead of berating myself further, I’m imagining a flip of that narrative to reframe situations and challenges that arise.

It’s building true self care into my actual schedule - because we know I love a list - if it’s on the list, it’s no doubt going to happen. If that’s longer on my skincare post-run/swim/yoga, if it’s booking a yoga class to be a student at instead of the teacher, or baking nutritious and delicious treats in my new flat, all sprinkled with a little more self love and understanding for what I need to feel soothed and centred,

So my intention for this next chapter, embrace those early morning, magical minutes and fill with movement, pages of books and sips of coffee. Creating an environment I can soften into, a sanctuary of peace, and supportive practices/rituals that encourage this softness. I’ll use each swim, run and yoga class for a chance to know myself better, listen to what I need and where I can grow in strength, connection and fitness.

Possibly my favourite era yet.
