Finding the why

I’ve heard a lot in classes I teach recently the phrase (in many ways) ‘this is why…’ and it struck me that yoga is so often the answer to many of us looking to:

Relax

Reconnect

Recover

Restore

Each person on the mat is there for their own ‘why’. They might have needed to carve out the time in the week to dedicate to their practice, their inner peace and to nourish the body with movement, breath and awareness.

And sometimes, the ‘why’ is a simple need to be held in space, with no goals or obligation, but simply to experience being guided through a flow. Knowing this makes planning my sequences, playlists, poetry samples and how I then cue each class all the more creative. To be given the privilege of guiding incredible people towards their ‘why’ never loses its magic.

I teach in Hampton, Kingston and Teddington, and also online, you can join me here.
